YEARS OF HISTORY
the story continues…
Our pride in our history is what drives us day in and day out. To be a part of such a great legacy is not something we take likely. We are continually pushed by those who have paved the way for us. Through our groundbreaking achievements, we will continue writing Leon’s history for the next generation.
LEON HIGH HISTORY
Leon is Florida’s oldest continually accredited high school, founded in 1871 just twenty-six years after Florida became a state. It was five years later when a two-story building was erected on the present day site of the Hobbs Federal Building along Tennessee Street. This facility was used until a new building was erected in 1911. That structure was located on the current site of the Leon County Public Library along Park Avenue.
LEON CHEER HISTORY
Established in the 1940s, the Leon High Cheer Program is Tallahassee’s oldest and most distinguished high school cheer program. Leon has a rich history of tradition, pride, and excellence in addition to multiple regional and state titles. Leon Cheer takes great pride in helping athletes develop physically, mentally, emotionally, and morally through athletics and training.
Continuing our legacy
Leon High has a rich history of success. We pride ourselves on continuing the legacy through tradition, pride, and excellence. It is our goal to enrich the lives of every student we work with beyond the fields or arena.
We would like to recognize & thank those that constantly give without any limits. We are able to continue the legacy of tradition, pride, and excellence through their generous donations. They have shaped the way we do business by providing a multitude of resources for our athletes.
